Jeremy Hrabal
Jeremy
Hrabal is from Liberty Hill, Texas, is old enough to drink alcohol
(legally), and rides his bike when he's not working at the Ramp Ranch
skatepark. He doesn't take any crap from anyone and hates annoying
girls. I've known him for about 4 years now and we've been on a
few unforgettable road trips together. He digs really well and
knows how to build good ramps too. Jeremy always has something
different to say and is not afraid to do so. He's also a victim of
the the Chase Hawk weekly/ monthly babysitting frenzy. Don't get in
his way at the park because he will run you over.
- Jed Rogers
First
off, how'd you get into riding?
I would go watch my cousin race, so I
figured I had nothing better to do, so I just started.
Did you ever race or did you just start
riding ramps?
I raced for almost a year, but i would
always try tricks during races and stuff. I would never win, and I just
kind of faded into the dirt-jumping scene after that.
What prompted you to start a clothing
company? Is it just going to be clothing, or do you want to make parts,
too?
I designed a couple of parts, and got some
prototype pegs made, but it just never lifted, so it’s pretty much
just clothing. I think its just cool to see my logo around.
What’s the vclub? Is there a
membership?
You’re either in or you’re out.
You’ve pretty much been a part of the
ramp ranch since it's been in liberty hill. Explain any changes you've
seen since these other parks have opened up inside Austin.
Being that we are the only "bike
friendly" parks around, I see tons of great riders everyday. Its
pretty much a bike park now.
What
have you been psyched on lately as far as new tricks, old tricks, and
what to ride (street, trails, park).
I'm really psyched to find out that my
trails haven't been plowed, I can't wait to get them running again. As
for tricks, I think I'm still trying to relearn half the tricks I used
to do.
Injuries suck, but tell us about some of
yours.
My injuries occurred all at once. At the
end of 2001 i had to get 2 knee surgeries in 2 months. Then a couple
months later, after just getting back on the bike, I took a bad fall
splitting my pancreas in half. If it wasn't for Loretta Martin, I might
not be here today.
How do you feel now?
100%
Do you become a head case when someone
pulls out a camera or video camera when your riding?
I don't think I do.
Is there anybody that gets you really
amped on riding or trying new stuff?
Everyone in Austin is just so good, I think
its mandatory to learn something new each time you ride.
How do you feel about bush and the
possibility of war?
I don't really know what’s going on.
Do you like cats or dogs?
Both
Boys or girls?
Definitely girls.
What magazine do you take with you the
most when you're on the pot?
"Foxy"
Is there anyone or anything you'd like
to talk about?
Thanks to Loretta Martin, Kerri Dehn for
pretty much letting me run the skatepark, Bill Bryant at SNAFU, and
everyone in Austin that rides.
